FOREWORD BY THE PRESIDENTS OF DÖAK 2027

We invite you to come to Berlin to help make the 2027 German-Austrian AIDS Congress an exciting, productive, educational, and outstanding event. Preparations for this congress are taking place during a time of unpredictable changes in direction, missed connections, and delays.

Reason to despair? – No.
A reason to set a new course – Yes.

Together with you, the congress leadership aims to set in motion a congress that takes this reality into account—a congress that explores the opportunities presented by this new reality. We want a congress where the best direction is debated, and where new goals are defined and pursued.

Berlin is a city of science where HIV research is currently putting down new roots. A cure is the major topic. Consequently, a cure will also be the central scientific theme of the DÖAK, to which national and international experts have been invited to present and discuss their findings.

The second key scientific focus is oncology. Tumors—whether AIDS-defining or not—represent a major challenge that compels us to look beyond the confines of infectious disease medicine. The DÖAK 2027 aims to provide a platform and a meeting place for this broad scientific field as well.

Berlin is also a city facing the typical problems of a major metropolis—challenges that policymakers, the administration, civil society, and those directly affected are actively addressing. The DÖAK will seek to examine established practices and find answers to hotly debated questions regarding the best approaches to prevention and preparedness in the context of the current era.

We appreciate your participation and financial support.
Set a new course together with us!
